Grammy winner Chris Botti, is an American trumpeter and composer. He studied at Indiana University School of Music, which he left during his senior year to tour with Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich. By 1985 he was based in New York City doing session work and gigs. In 1990, he embarked upon a decade long recording and touring relationship with Paul Simon, with whom he performed with in New York’s Central Park as part of the Rhythm of the Saints tour. In 1999, he released his third solo album, Slowing Down The World, which included vocal contributions from Sting, with whom he was invited to tour with the same year on the Brand New Day tour. Botti attributes his relationship with Sting as a course changer of his career. In 1995, he released, First Wish, his debut solo album, which was followed by several strong albums including: Midnight Without You, Night Sessions, December, A Thousand Kisses Deep, When I Fall in Love, To Love Again: The Duets, Italia, Impressions (with which he won the Grammy Award for the Best Pop Instrumental Album), and Chris Botti In Boston. Chris Botti has performed and recorded with artists including: Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Roger Daltrey, Natalie Cole, Joni Mitchell, Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, Bette Midler, Dean Martin, Chaka Khan, Andrea Bocelli, Rod Stewart, Steven Tyler, Yo-Yo Ma and David Foster.
